''expensive for what you get.
This is fairly pricey for what you get. But i had to have the front covers, i didnt care for the blue that comes standard on the camera. they seem like an item that should come standard with the camera. but oh well....
the case is nice, camera slips easily in and out.
the straps i still havent quite figured out all the uses for, but im working on it. the way they clip into the camera is pretty cool. to be honest im pretty active and i havent used them yet. but i could see where they might be handy for watersports.
all in all if you are like me and just had to have the kit, then i understand. but its nothing that you will really need. you can buy just a camera case a lot cheaper.

Expensive Must Have for Underwater Adventures
This is obviously an expensive accessory, given the contents and materials. The materials seem to be good quality, but I doubt they cost very much to manufacture.

That said, I consider this a must have for those who plan to take their camera on snorkel and/or SCUBA trips. I have no doubt that it saved me from losing our camera. We used the straps on several snorkel trips, including a night outing. With the long strap I could stick the camera in my pocket, and even if it came out the strap which I clipped to a loop on my shorts kept it from floating away. The longest one can wrap around the shoulder of an adult male like a lanyard, so the camera is handy, but not in the way. Cleaned up easily and weathered our salt water excursions nicely. Salt can be very hard on gear.

The Neoprene case with Carabiners (clip) was very useful for our hikes. Keeping the camera handy, but not taking up valuable pocket space.

You could try to save some money and use the wrist strap that is included with the camera, but it does not really leave your hands free for swimming. You can let go of the camera, but you risk it swinging around and hitting you, or anything that your hands are near but shouldn't be touching (e.g. coral).

A Necessity
Canon calls this an Accessory Kit. I call it a Neccesity Kit. Here's why. The Canon D10 is much too big to fit in a pants or shirt pocket. So where do you keep it if you want quick access? A gadget bag or a purse would work, except the D10 is meant for use in wet conditions like splashing around the pool or snorkeling. So this kit has several straps to secure the camera for exactly such activities. While kayaking, I attach one end of a strap to one corner of the D10, thread the strap through my life preserver, then attach the other end to another corner of the D10. The D10 is available instantly for that fleeting image, yet is totally safe should I dump into the water. The strap can be easily tightened to hold the camera tight to the body for strenuous activities like surfing or skiing. The straps and the unique way they attach to the D10 are the essense of this kit.

The kit includes a soft camera bag and three different colored covers to spruce up your D10. These are truly accessories. These are of little use to me, but you might like them.

So why only four stars for something I find essential? Because of the high price. I think this kit is way overpriced and thus I knocked off a star. But I recommend it if you use your D10 as I do and can afford it.

IMPORTANT REVISION Oct 30, 2009. One of the straps, the one which you can adjust its length, is secured with a clip. THIS CLIP CAN SPONTANEOUSLY OPEN allowing the camera to fall. This happened to me twice whiie canoeing. Once,I held the camera over my head and this caused the strap to twist, openning the clip. Another time, I turned the camera to portrait mode and again twisted the strap and opened the clip. Each time the friction of the cord against my life preserver kept the camera from falling free. But it could easily have gone with the waves. DO NOT USE THIS STRAP unless you wire the clip permanently closed. Instead, use the strap with no adjustment.
