I am a SONY fan and bought this camera in 2008 before a trip to Russia and Germany. The lens barrel assembly failed after two months of use. I happened to have a second camera with me. Sony quickly repaired the camera in the US and would have replaced it in Berlin if I had sale information. It failed again in November, 2009. Same problem. After using the camera normally for a few shots, the assembly goes in and out when the power button is pushed. It does not remain out of the case and the camera cannot be used and remains inoperable. Luckily I bought an extended maintenance package and hopefully the camera will be replaced. My camera is an unreliable instrument. This is my first bad SONY product. Saying all of this, I have been pleased with the camera and have taken professional quality pictures. The scene selections work well, but it pays off to read the manual.

I bought this item recently and I really like it. Everything works fine, the only issue is that when you use the optical zoom to its maximum you feel like the picture is grained (not the expected quality). In fact, beyond 3x optical zooming quality is compromised.
Also take care that you will have to buy a special card, Pro Duo Mark 2 but this is not a big deal.
All in all I do like and recommend it, it is a great purchase for the price.

This camera shoots an awesome picture and it's small, stylish and lightweight. It seems to be made very well and I have no complaints about it whatsoever. We have used this camera for about six months now and I don't think it has ever taken a bad picture. It will take a great picture and it will also record video with sound. It has all the bells and whistles like red eye reduction, still shot and special effects. I think it's well worth the money.

WELL, I BOUGHT IT BECAUSE MY KODAK ONE BROKE. SO WHEN I SAW THIS ONE PERFECT FOR ME, IT'S PINK AND SONY IS AN EXCELLENT NAME BRAND. I BROUGHT IT AS USED AND LOOK LIKE NEW. EVERYTHING IS IN GREAT SHAPE SO I RECOMMENDED AS A GIFT THEY WILL FALL IN LOVE WITH IT.

We have had several of this model camera and all have performed well. However, the newer Sony models do not have a viewfinder which means that photographers can't see in bright light. It seems that after this camera, we will need to purchase a Canon.
