Check your camera for a built in flash
The flash works great and is nessisary for far off pictures but for closer photos there is a built in flash in the A230 that I did not see initially.

Great Buy
I used this flash with my Sony A200 camera on my last vacation and at the last two weddings I attended; I have been very impressed with the flash. It is very easy to use and it carries light exceptionally well. In fact, when I went to print my photos the photo place refused to print some of my pictures because they claimed they were professional shots. This flash is a Great buy for the money and I would definitely recommend it to a friend.

WHAT A FLASH
THIS BOWER SFD2965 FLASH IS A VERY GOOD BUY (FOR THE MONEY). THE HOT PLATE CONECTION AND THE DISTANCE ADJUSTMENT CONTROL COULD BE BETTER,BUT IT WILL GET THE JOB DONE.

DON'T BUY!
I've purchased Bower items before, as well as other generic items, like Sakar Digital Concepts, at the end, I had to spend double the amount I would for an original product for my camera. Why? Because I had to replace over three times al the generic flashes I purchased. Each was about $100. My brand flash ended up costing me about $300, but going for generic flashes I ended up spending $600! They break up very easily, specially Bower, and lack light output overall. Please take this advice seriously.

Bower camera flash
Great flash for the sony A100. It is easy to use and very flexible. The flash arrived before the expected date in good condition. I highly recommend!
