VELBON DF-60 TRIPOD
DID LOTS OF SURVEYING AND READING TRIPOD REVIEWS ON AMAZON BEFORE DECIDING ON THE VELBON DF-60 TRIPOD. BASICALLY ITS DIFFICULT TO TELL FROM A PHOTO WHAT QUALITY YOU ARE PURCHASING. THAT BEING SAID HERE GOES:

DISLIKES: THE SIZE OF THE TRIPOD IN IT COLAPSED STATE IS NOT REALLY COMPACT WHICH MAKES PORTABLITY SORT OF A CONCERN I CAN FIT IT IN A SMALL BACKPACK WITH MY CAMERAS HOW EVER IT DOES TAKE UP SPACE AND THE TRIPODS WEIGHT ALSO MAKES IT BULKY AS MENTIONED IN OTHER REVIEWS IT SHOULD COME WTH A CARRYING CASE PREFERABLY ONE WITH STRAPS SO CAN SLING IT OVER ONES SHOULDER FOR OUTINGS AND THEN YOU DONT HAVE TO SHOP AROUND FOR A BAG THAT FITS THE TRIPOD SIZE

LIKES: FOR THE PRICE AND COMPARED TO OTHER TRIPODS IVE OWNED FOR POINT/SHOOT CAMERAS AND FILM SLR'S THIS IS A PERFECT TRIPOD
ITS WELL CONSTRUCTED WITH QUALITY MATERIALS, FEATURES LIKE A LEVEL & MANUAL CRANK TO ADUST HEIGHT TO ANY VERTICAL LOCATION. FULLY ADUSTABLE PAN HEAD AND A FEATURE I LIKE... REMOVEABLE QUICK RELEASE CAMERA ATTACHED BRACKET SO YOU CAN REMOVE THE CAMERA FOR HAND HELD PHOTOS THEN SLIP IT BACK INTO THE TRIPOD FOR OTHER PHOTOS.

FINALLY IT HAS HORIZONTAL BRACKETS WHICH IMPROVES THE TRIPODS OVER ALL STABILITY

IVE OWNED THE VALBON FOR SEVERAL MONTHS AND ITS BEEN EASY TO SET UP IN THE "FEILD" AND FOR MY P/S DIGITAL IT ELIMINATES CAMERA SHAKE AND GREATLY IMPROVES PHOTOS

SINCE PHOTO EQUIPMENT CAN BE A BIT PRICEY IVE VOTED 5 STARS SINCE FOR THE MONEY THIS HAS PROVEN TO BE A QUAITY TRIPOD

Cheaply made plastic.
Not for the even REMOTELY serious photographer. Might hold up a P&S but that's about it. Wouldn't reccomend to a friend.

Perfect For Amateur
I've been doing amateur photography for about a year now, and I knew that I needed to get a decent tripod - without a huge price tag attached to it. This one fits the bill perfectly. Regardless of what another commenter said on here, it IS lightweight - I can carry it in my hand while I have my camera bag over my shoulder. It sets up quickly and is very sturdy. The only problem I have with it, and is why I only gave it 4 stars, is that the main adjustment handle gets in the way - but you can solve this by turning the tripod around backwards. Looks kinda silly, but it works!

Excellent for the price
I wanted a second tripod to go along with my old Star-D and picked the DF-60. It's better. I'm using it with a 400mm equivalent DSLR lens and a 20-60x spotting scope. It even handles the two in combination for digiscoping. I would have given it another star if the quick-swap plate had a safety catch to back up its spring lever, but I don't know of any other tripods that have anything like that. I had a question and the customer service folks were very responsive.

Great tripod for the price
This tripod is a great value! It's pretty light weight, and has plenty of height adjustment. The only real problems I have had while using it are trying to use my SLR in the portrait orientation, it's just not strong enough to hold the head in that position without being a little crooked.

However, I didn't expect it to be able to handle the weight with that setup, and will attach a ball head if I need to use it that way more.

Overall, a great value!
