I bought this camera in December last year as a gift to my wife and it seemed to be a very nice camera. Battery life depends on the batteries you use--make sure you buy good rechargeable batteries if not it's dead on a snapshot--. However, after only 7 months of light use (my wife is not a picture-taking lover) the camera suddenly brought an error message about the lens and asked for the camera to be restarted. We did it and the error kept happening. We are now in Latin America, so we took it to the Canon Authorized Shop to learn that the lens needed to be replaced and that to fix the item the repair cost was $160. A friend of mine had a HP Camera and she was delivered a new one at no cost to Latin America. So for me, no more Canon!

This camera takes very nice pictures. But it eats batteries like it is going out of style. I went thru a lot of batteries when I took pictures at my brothers wedding. A lot of features, that I haven't even used yet. I love the feature after taking a picture, no matter which way you hold the camera, the picture adjust - going from vertical to horizontal. Overall a very good camera for the price with the exceptions of the batteries. Also, I would recommend to get the 4 GB memory card. It holds over 1,700 pictures.

I bought this wonderful camera from Amazon.ca in April of this year for a few dollars more than HALF the price listed for this one (and in CDN dollars!). Sadly, it is no longer available on the Canadian Amazon site. Great camera, will be even better once I figure out some of the more advanced features.

I bought this camera last year and I love it! the picture quality is excellent. the video quality is excellent. It's just great!

I have used the lower priced PowerShot Cameras for the last few years. Out of all of them, this was my least favorite in terms of capturing the quality of pictures I desired.

1) The image stabilization features are not explained clearly. No matter what setting I have it on, I don't see to get the stabilization I expect. Granted, this may be my fault but a better explanation in the manual would be appreciated.

2) The lens converter that I have (that was recommended) is not listed in the camera software - choice-wise. That to me is a bit confusing. LA-DC58G was the converter bought.

3) The image quality is not exceptional. At the highest quality setting, I usually end up boosting the quality through a separate image editing program.

I really love Canon cameras. I just thought that this camera would elevate my picture taking experience a bit further. I think it might be time now to explore the "G" series or higher end PowerShots in general.
