The Canon Powershot A1000IS is THE BEST. Not for the artist, but for regular people with kids or pets wanting to immortalize the greatest moments of their life. A camera that can take great pictures quickly. It is easy to carry around and the image stabilizer works wonders. Look no further!

I own 3 Canon(2 portable, 1 SLR D40) but I am really surprised with the pictures of this current one. Pictures are sharp, bright color and excellent contrast. Some of its are really better or equal my D40.

I think this is a wonderful little camera. It is easy to use, has a great zoom, and almost all of my pictures come out in focus. It is small and lightweight, so it's easy to carry around. I had one camera where I had to take two or three sets of rechargables around with me, because it drained the battery so quickly. But I have taken over 200 pictures and still have the same batteries in that it came with. The upload to your computer is easy. The only thing I don't like is that you have to delete the pictures of the memory card one by one. It does not let you upload, then delete all uploaded pics off camera. Or if it does have that feature, I haven't figured it out yet. Very time consuming to delete pics off camera one by one.

Tried this camera for about a week. It will NOT focus at distance. Even on Program mode when focus set to Infinity shots are blurry.

perfect focus up to 3ft. Beyond that even at zoom, every thing is blurry. THis is one of the worst cameras I ever purchased.

We had an old A420 the was great...were hoping for the same at least. This is actualy worse...how can that be posible?

First off, I cannot express enough how awesome the quality is on this camera! :) Everytime I pick it up to use it, I can almost always expect the best quality from any camera I've ever used, even in the video feature! :)

To be honest, I spent 500$ on a JVC digital video camera, and the images AND videos would turn out mostly washed out or gritty. However, I only spent 152$ (including shipping) on this Canon Powershot camera, and I think it's the best 150$ I've ever spent! :) I love to film videos as much as I do photos, so I was EXTREMELY amazed and excited when I found out that the video quality was JUST as fantastic as the photo quality! It's my first "more professional, yet amateur" camera, and I'm completely satisfied :)

The only disadvantage is that if you want to take a photo of yourself, you can't see the LCD screen to see where you're aiming. Other than that, NO problems! :) I'd recommend Canon Powershots to anyone, and I can promise that Canon will be the first and only brand I look at when buying another camera product! :)
