Canon has replaced this model with a new one ~ minus the viewfinder. LCD screens are nice, but in bright sunlight you need a viewfinder. This camera allows for growth in the shooters skill level. From all the auto modes to manual. This was a birthday present and my daughter was thrilled!!

I bought this camera through Amazon - via TechNow - and I love it! It takes amazing photos and has all sorts of options that are easy to learn and use. If you are looking for a terrific little camera that you can take anywhere with you, and get great photos, indoors and out, this is the one to buy. And the option of the viewfinder is a great enhancement for sunny days when the monitor screen is hard to view through. And here is a tip - you can buy this camera right off the shelf at Target for $149.

My daughter is really enjoying her new Canon Sureshot camera. She received it yesterday and had no problems prepping the camera for use and taking pictures.

I'm having trouble turning this product on and being able to see an image through the window. At the beach earlier this summer, it would not turn on at all even replacing the battery. I'm disappointed in it's performance. When it is working the pictures are great, but still sticks turning on. Maybe I should have returned it and received another one.

The Zoom Browser EX 6.1 software that comes with the camera for viewing pictures did not work. After many tries, it continued to show an error. I called Canon and spoke with what sounded like a very knowledgeable technician, but he was stumped and had no answer for me. I have a two year old Canon Power Shot A610 and even tried to use its software with the A1000 IS camera. It wouldn't work either. I have figured out a workaround, but it's a hassle. Think twice before purchasing!
