Great camera
I bought this camera for a trip to the Amazon jungle and Galapagos Islands. No cameras in plastic bags for me - I didn't want to worry about keeping it dry. My other digital camera is a Casio and I am very happy with it. The D10 is even better. It's idiot-proof on the automatic setting, and I got great pictures both above and under water. In our group of 13 people, five cameras failed, but not this baby. Love it.

Underwater Camera
So far the pictures are great...there has been a few issues with the camera locking up when trying to zoom. The system calls to turn off the camera and reset...which doesn't work. If you leave it on and hit the side with your hand a few times that corrects the problem...

Read the manual especially the options section. There are soooo many options on this camera it it pays to read the manual otherwise you will miss something that would really enhance your pictures.

I haven't tired the camera underwater yet but I will and when I do...if I can make an addendum to the review I will.

Don't get it wet.
This camera takes great pics, and is easy to use, but Canon does not cover water related damages. The LCD has a history of not working after getting wet and there are many better dry-land camera options.

Spend your money, take your chances.

Canon PowerShot D10
This is the second Canon camera that I own (the other is a model A630). This was purchased for the waterproof feature. This is an excellent product (takes great pictures, is truly waterproof, easy to use, etc.). The only issue that I have with this product (as well as the A630) is trying to take action shots. Regardless of what setting is used, there is always an inconsistent delay (from 1 to 4 seconds) between when the button is pressed & when the shutter opens. Trying to capture an action shot at a precise moment is impossible.

I really loved this... until water ruined it!
I'm so sad... as I really loved this camera. That was before the battery compartment somehow came open and sea water got in and ruined it completely.

I bought this camera in August 2009 and took it with me on diving and snorkeling trips to Bonaire, Hawaii, and Thailand. The camera features were great and it was extremely easy to use. I also loved taking videos of my underwater adventures. All in all, I would have been the first to give this a 5 star rating.

However, one day of snorkeling I had the camera out and realized it didn't work. I popped up above the waves and saw the battery compartment open, my battery gone, and water in both the LCD screen and lens. Aaaargh!!! I had to buy those crappy disposable waterproof cameras for the rest of my trip, which resulted in with almost-worthless photos.

I counted all the times I went into the water and realized the door seal had failed on the 14th day of use. That's just not cool. I'm trying to get a refund via my Visa, as Canon says "water damage is not under warranty" and Amazon doesn't take returns after 30 days.

I'd really suggest you get a waterproof case and just use a cheap digital camera instead.
