Worth it!
I bought this camera for a cruise I was taking. When I got the camera, I took several shots, inside and outside and the quality of the pictures were great. Then I dunked it in a sink full of water, took a few shots and then took the camera out and THANKFULLY it still worked! I was more worried about dunking it than I thought I would be, but I wanted to make sure it was waterproof before my cruise. It was. The camera still took great pictures afterward. I love the color selection function, can't remember exactly what the function is called, but it is where you can select a color and the camera will only highlight in that color, making everything else in black and white - really neat function. The video records great. And the battery life held up way longer than I thought it would have. It takes great pictures in dark rooms/settings, bright light settings, inside, outside, where ever. I would say this camera is definitely worth the price. 2010-01-22

So happy I bought this camera
I am so happy that I decided to buy this camera! The picture quality is great.
I love how durable it is. Even though I travel with it in a case, I no longer am worried about piling it in my backpack with a ton of other stuff when I'm going out to the beach or something. You can drop this in the sand without it damaging any mechanically moving parts.
This camera is really great about battery use. When you set it on automatic mode, it takes really great photos, and usually there is no need for the flash to fire! In an environment where any other camera might fire the flash, Canon D10 seems to be smarter than the rest as it can take the same picture with no flash and produce a crisp image with true color - even in low light.
Underwater, this camera is fantastic! At first, I was a little bit nervous to bring it underwater after reading on this website the reviews about the camera not working after the first underwater use. However, my experience with using this as an underwater camera has been perfect. Underwater mode seems to empathize the colors of certain areas so details on fish, coral and other underwater life are beautifully captured. The compartments that you can open seem sturdy enough, but just in case I always check before entering the water that they are closed completely and that there is no sand in the cracks.
This camera uses an anti red eye flash but in some photos, there you can still see a small amount of red in the eye. Forget about using the red eye remover feature that this camera has, because it will just put a big dark circle that is larger than the eye in the image.
Compared to the other user images taken with underwater point and shoot cameras, this one is superior. Also, I had a disposable underwater camera and those pictures came out awful! Weather you scuba/snorkel regularly, or are like me and just bought it for this one trip - I 100% suggest it to you!

Great all-around camera
If the camera had a completely manual mode, it would be perfect. Still, the program mode gives a lot of flexibility and it takes great pictures in just about every setting. This is truly an amazing camera for the price! I took the camera on vacation and it performed well both in and out of the water. The dry-land pictures were as good as any other point-and-shoot camera that we have owned (Nikon, Olympus, and Canon). Others have complained that the camera is bulky but it fits in a jacket pocket easily. I bought a floating strap for it but really didn't need it; the supplied strap cinches down to tightly fit around your wrist. We used it snorkeling in this fashion and had no problems. The Olympus version is smaller but it costs $100 more. With the date stamp feature, I can also use it for outdoor work documentation without worrying about weather condition. If you only want one camera to do everything, this is the one! 2010-01-18

Excellent Option
I needed a waterproof camera. Afraid of buying just the case for my older camera, I bought this one after reading the reviews.
It was an excellent purchase. It has been working just fine under the water and specially outside the water.
Does it have some inconveniences? Yes. There is no action mode, the camera is a bit large to put inside the pocket, and there is no cover for the lens.
Apart from those, excellent camera.

this product works
I received this product for christmas, to be used during an upcoming trip to the Yucatan. Knowing how expensive the Kodak Underwater cameras are (with the price of processing), this was a no brainer. On the second day of the trip we went SCUBA diving off the reef and the fellow divers were pretty jealous of the capabilites of this camera. We went right down to 30-35ft (12-14m) and the camera perfomed perfectly. Having the piece of mind knowing that this camera can hold up to the elements and even take a minor beating makes it worth every cent. Many problems that occur with this camera are operator error, people tend not to check the doors to the ports and then the camera will fry. So if you are alert with it, it will last you. 2010-01-15
